Overview of the Commission Process
1: Contact Me about Your Concept
Have an idea for what you want? Use the Contact form to provide a general description of what you're looking for. This form includes contact methods so I can get in touch for the next step of the process.
2: We'll Gather the Details
Assuming it is a commission I can accept, I'll discuss the design with you. You will need to provide reference art, unless it's artistic liberty and left to me by choice. We can hash out the specifics about style, materials, usage needs, and so forth. I'll answer any questions you have about how I build projects and alternative designs. At the end, we should both have a clear idea of the project--and whether I'm the right maker to create it for you!
4: You Pay the Deposit
If you're happy with the quote and agree to the terms, you next pay a 30% non-refundable deposit. This secures your spot in my project queue. It also covers the cost for ordering any materials which have a longer lead time.
5: You Send a Duct Tape Dummy (if applicable)
If you're getting a full fursuit, I usually build those using a DTD. This is fairly common with fursuit makers and I can provide details on how the process works. If that's not practical for you, we can discuss working from measurements and shipping a test fitting garment instead.
Partials, heads, and other types of commissions do not require DTDs.
6: You Pay in Full (when at the front of the queue)
The remaining balance needs to be 100% paid prior to my starting construction, so ensure you're ready to pay as you reach the front of the commission queue. I'll keep you updated on progress while you're in the queue.
8: The Finished Item is Delivered!
When the build is done, I will ship to the address you've provided as part of the quote. By default, included in the quoted price is tracked shipping to the continental US without added insurance. Please let me know if you want different shipping options or to pick the item up directly (e.g. at a convention). Once delivered, try it out and let me know within 2 weeks if there are any issues in fit or construction which need to be addressed. Then go forth and have some furry fun!
7: I Build Your Project (and provide regular updates)
I'll create your bespoke item, providing you with photos and notes along the way. I may also stream work sessions and share updates on Telegram/Bsky/etc. If you see anything which doesn't match your vision, let me know! It's best to catch early anything which needs to be tweaked.
3: I Deliver a Quote
Based on our discussion, I'll email a written quote which includes (a) a recap of the features and details, (b) the terms of service, (c) payment specifics, and (d) individual pricing for any options/extras so you can choose. Quotes are non-binding so you're under no obligation at this point.
